The light of day...
I looked through my window
and saw it.
It was no longer a dark
and cloudy morning.
And I heard the birds chirping
it on it's way in.
Birds I haven't heard
since I left childhood.
Blame it on the trees.
The trees that attract the
different birds to them
for symbiotic nurturance.
Or blame it on the weather,
whose temperatures the trees love.
I could blame it on the climate,
the latitude and longitude, or
the parallel closest to the Equator
or the Pacific Coast.
Mother Earth seems to have a
big hand in all these "goings on".
So, I'll blame her for the beauty
of the trees and the birds melodies,
in the light of day.
But then, I would be remiss
in placing blame, laying the
fault on others, when clearly,
after all, it is the Universe who
covers it all--she is the one
who's got the biggest hand and
heart, in all the "goings on."
So I'll lay the blame,
the responsibility, where it really
belongs--on her, with
emphasis and finger
pointing, " It's all your fault,
Universe!"
And, then, I'll wink and smile wryly
into the ethers, knowing
it's also her fault I'm
here and grateful for
all the elements who bring
this to me, in the light of day.
